Happy Holidays and a Quick Update!

It’s currently Xmas eve, so I’ll keep this dev log short (maybe).

Saga 4 Complete!

I’ve kept to my schedule of one saga per week and have completed Saga 4, and even implemented some parts of Saga 5 (mainly the final boss, which I’ll keep secret!).

I’m really excited as I close to the finish line. Saga 5 is the final set of levels and I’ve already implemented all the enemies and set up the tileset for it. All that’s left is to design them out, which is usually the fun part. Especially as they will be a reprise of the preceding Sagas!

Controller Support Added

Not sure why I took so long to implement this. Godot makes controller support pretty easy, I just was focusing on the “meat” of the game more. In any case, I’m glad to have it as it lets the player enjoy the game in a way that works best for them!

Ghouls, Demons, and Cyclopses!

With a new saga comes new enemies!

As you saw above, the ghouls patrol around and leave poison gas in their wake, meaning they have to be dealt with quickly.

Demons take TWO actions per turn, meaning they can chase V and bash him in one go!

Cyclopses are slow and simple creatures, but they make up for that from their reach, durability, and damage output!

Timestop!

A new item that on pick up pauses enemies for three turns. This is really helpful for V to use this time to set up defenses (like using his favorite dynamite!)

Features Implemented TL;DR

  • Saga 4 completed
  • Ghoul, Demon, Cyclops, Rusty, and Alric enemies implemented
  • MultiActionEnemy class implemented
  • Timestop item added
  • Saga 5 tileset implemented
  • Controller support added

Next Steps

Only Saga 5 remains! Although to be clear, there will still be a lot of tasks to complete. Ranging from an options menu, unlockables, to music for each Saga (and probably boss music). I will be opening up Beta Testing once the base game is complete, so look forward to updates on that very soon!
